Red Nose Mask Weekend Intensive

A beginner’s nose-dive into LeCoq-derived red nose mask with Felicia Bertch. Discover your delightful and unfiltered inner child and flee self-consciousness as you get a taste of your most truest YOU on stage!

Red Nose Mask is, in my humble opinion, the most difficult work an actor can explore. It requires complete concentration, complete freedom, complete presence, complete abandon, complete generosity, and complete connection with an audience in each and every second from the time you enter until the moment you exit. It’s exhausting, terrifying, discouraging, exposing, and (if you survive) the most rewarding work you will ever do. Imagine standing in front of an audience and completely unzipping: allowing every thought, idea, and feeling to expose who you really are without façade and to allow a bunch of people to laugh at you while you do so. Could be a nightmare! But isn’t that exactly what we all long for: to be seen just as we are and to be loved in spite of it?! Ages 18+

Saturday, July 13 and Sunday, July 14

A few things you might like to know if you’re going to trust Felicia for a clown workshop…

Felicia Bertch is a theatre artist and educator based in the DFW area. She holds a BA in English from Wheaton College and an MFA in Acting from The University of South Carolina. She studied physical theatre arts at L’Ecole Internationale de Theatre Jacques LeCoq in Paris and received her Vinyasa Yoga Certification in New York City. Her areas of specialization are Movement, Devised Theatre, Physical Theatre (following the lineage of Tadashi Suzuki and Jacques Lecoq), Mask, and Shakespeare and she has studied extensively with Master Teachers in these areas both nationally and internationally. Felicia studied red nose with the late Paola Coletto and was a founding member and managing director for Paola’s Chicago clown company, Dal Vivo.

Felicia is most passionate about instilling a creative, playful, and fully embodied approach to life, learning, and performance in her students. And she delights in guiding students away from cynicism and self-consciousness and instead helping them see the world as a place of possibility and wonder. Red Nose is her favorite work to teach and do!

Felicia is currently on faculty and the Head of the BFA Acting Program at The University of Texas at Arlington. She continues to work as a professional theatre artist, on-camera artist, and model in the Dallas/Fort Worth area where she is represented by Kim Dawson Agency and in Chicago, represented by Lori Lins Ltd.
